This past weekend Radius Martial Arts/10th Planet Fairfield took a small team to compete at the New England Submission Challenge (NESC) in Manchester, CT. The NESC is a submission only tournament with 15 minute preliminary matches, no time limit finals, and all submissions legal in the expert division. Everybody that competed performed well in wins and losses, implementing their game plans and strategies.
We are proud of everybody for stepping on the mats to compete as that is the biggest challenge for many people. Just getting out there to compete, win or lose, puts you in a small percentage of the population. I encourage everybody to get out there at least once to test your skills. It’s not about winning and losing as much as it is about testing your skills against others of your size and skill level while dealing with the nerves and jitters of a real life competition scenario.
Looking ahead, we will be hosting 10th Planet Black Belt John Botello for a seminar on November 12th from noon to 3pm. John is a black belt under Eddie Bravo and is the owner/head instructor of 10th Planet Phoenix. John is an incredible instructor and highly technical jiu jitsu practitioner.
